Director of Marketing

We are working with a global leader and supplier of coated fabrics with 1800 employees and locations in the US, Europe, Central and South America. Serving the Home, Outdoor, Commercial, Marine, and RV markets. Due to a promotion, the company has a need for a Director of Marketing (Remote) with a focus on the North American market.

The Director of Marketing is responsible for planning, developing, directing and the coordination of all aspects for the marketing of our primary product. Responsibilities include the development and introduction of new coated fabrics including vinyl, PU, TPE products, and print/surface designs, analyzing market opportunities, working in direct conjunction with our corporate management team and seeking new supply opportunities throughout the world. The position reports to the President.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Reviews existing product portfolio and develops a new products, sourcing and branding strategy designed for the business-to-business market
  • Completes a detailed market study which includes a full understanding of our competitors, their position in the marketplace, strengths and weaknesses
  • Identify areas within the market that are underserved and develops products that meet those needs
  • Responsible for the implementation and maintenance of the Business Intelligence tools
  • Plans, develops and executes a complete brand and product “road map” in conjunction with the sales staff and senior management
  • Fully executes new product development and deliveries in accordance with designated timelines
  • Drives branding objectives and strategies as identified
  • Develops a product sourcing strategy that allows for additional, complimentary products to be added to the existing portfolio
  • Works hand-in-hand with existing internal designers and those of the parent company
  • Works closely with the sales team in order to identify new product opportunities
  • Fully understands the customer base without direct responsibility over sales
  • Supervises the performance of existing staff members in the art department and social media functions
  • Works in conjunction with members of the customer service team to review and approve DR’s prior to submission to the factory/supplier
  • Works with team members to plan and execute seminars and events as identified
  • Completes assigned projects as requested

Experience and Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor’s degree, Masters preferred
  • Five to ten years of increasing experience in a Product Development and/or Marketing role in a “business to business” environment
  • An understanding of sourcing, supplier management and logistics a plus
  • Specific vinyl or fabric industry related experience strongly preferred
  • Appreciation for design and experience within the textile industry
  • Understanding of technical product construction
  • Experience in market research and business analytics
  • Supervisory experience and/or capability
  • Experience in departmental budgeting
  • Experience working with or within the A&D community of specific interest
  • International experience a plus
  • Bi-lingual English/Spanish preferred, but not mandatory

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Must demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills and have the ability to communicate and present in person, in writing, and on the telephone
  • Must be an effective presenter with both large and small groups
  • Skill in use of computer software including Microsoft Office applications
  • Domestic and International travel required
