Director of IT
This is a newly formed company with a well-established history in the 3PL eCommerce direct to consumer industry. They will have the most up to date warehouse automation and IT systems superior to most in the 3PL space. They have multiple locations in Northern California, Texas and Georgia totaling over 3 million sq ft with expansion plans to open additional locations within the next 2-3 years. Financially well backed. They already have established customers shipping over 7 million packages direct to consumer annually and growing rapidly. The Information Technology Director will be responsible for overseeing and managing the company’s entire IT team, IT infrastructure, including hardware, software, networks, and security systems.
This leadership role is crucial in ensuring the smooth running of our daily operations and the continuous improvement of our technology infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in IT leadership, strong knowledge of logistics and warehouse operations, and the ability to make data-driven decisions to drive the company’s growth and success.
This will be a hand-on position, working in a fast paced environment for a company with expected growth over the next 2-5 years where we will be adding multiple warehouse locations through organic growth and possible targeted acquisitions.
The successful candidate will have strong proven leadership skills that promote internal and external customer service strengths which will develop the IT team into a results oriented, growth mindset, and high performing team.
The IT Director will build and lead a team that will include:
- IT Tech (existing position)
- IT Tech Hardware/Networking area
- Business Systems Analyst
- Other open positions as determined by the IT Director
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement IT strategies and roadmaps that align with the company’s business goals and objectives
- Oversee the maintenance, management, and enhancement of the company’s IT infrastructure, including networks, servers, and hardware, software, and security systems
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to understand their technology needs, recommend suitable solutions, and ensure seamless integration with existing systems
- Familiarity with industry standards and best practices for wireless network design, implementation, and security in large-scale warehouse environments
- Proficiency in the use of network management and monitoring tools for wireless networks, such as Wi-Fi analyzers and site survey tools
- Knowledge of emerging wireless networking technologies and trends, with the ability to evaluate and adopt new solutions to improve operational efficiency and performance
- Familiar with ChatGPT and AI tools and the methods to implement them across all departments of a Logistics Warehousing organization
- Manage IT budgets and ensure cost-effective allocation of resources
- Develop and maintain IT policies, procedures, and best practices to ensure data security, regulatory compliance, and system reliability
- Monitor and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) to assess the effectiveness of IT systems and drive continuous improvement
- Build and manage a high-performing IT team, providing coaching, mentoring, and performance management as required
- Stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices, to ensure the company remains at the forefront of technological advancements in logistics and warehouse operations
- Establish and maintain relationships with vendors, suppliers, and partners specializing in wireless networking products and services, ensuring the delivery of high-quality solutions
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred
- Demonstrated Leadership skills leading a team of direct reports across a multi-site environment
- At least 10 years of experience in IT management, with a minimum of 5 years in a leadership role
- Demonstrated hands-on experience in building, optimizing, and organizing digital solutions in a complex Third-Party Logistics supply chain operations
- Strong knowledge of IT infrastructure, systems, networks, and security
- Proven experience in managing wireless networking for large distribution centers
- Proven experience working with software development teams and modern software development methodologies
- Experience with the implementation and maintenance of robotics systems for warehouse process automation
- Excellent project management, organizational and time management skills
- Proven ability to develop and implement IT strategies that support business objectives
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make data-driven decisions
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships at all levels of the organization
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, and manage multiple competing priorities
