Shift Supervisor / Manager

We are working with a well-established (over 120 years) and growing nonwovens, lamination, and foam manufacturer with a wide variety of products for their global customer base in industries including acoustic, automotive, medical, consumer products, apparel, hygiene, packaging, filtration, aerospace, marine & RV, military, safety/fire protection, etc. The company has multiple facilities in the US, including a new facility in this NC location. Leading a team in one of the company’s NC facilities, the Production / Shift Supervisor provides leadership and direction through strong communication and teamwork for the activities of the assigned production crew to safely achieve production goals within cost standards and demonstrate a commitment to quality. This is a 3 day per week (Wednesday, Thursday, Friday) 7:00 PM-7:00 AM schedule.

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities:
• Supervise employees in the daily production of non-wovens products to include, planning, assigning, and directing work; evaluating employee’s performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; promoting safety, quality production and teamwork; resolving conflicts
• Lead and motivate employees by setting an example of supporting behavior, attitude, and performance to work efficiently and effectively, while ensuring a safe work environment and quality product
• Effectively communicate operational information in both oral and written format at all levels; crew members, other supervisors, plant management, office personnel and outside customers and vendors
• Actively promote and ensure compliance with safety, quality and other programs and initiatives utilized within the organization
• Manage, measure, and make recommendations to improve the manufacturing processes and production flow using continuous improvement tools
• Monitor the production operation and product quality, directing efforts as necessary in order to meet production goals and improve quality
• Identify, develop, and monitor production measurements. Recommend and implement production measurement improvements
• Ensure that company policies and procedures are being followed
• Identify ongoing training needs for production team and assist with developing and implementing the required training
• Ensure that appropriate safety and ergonomic processes and methods are being maintained and improved in the production area
• Identify needs relating to improvements in safety/ergonomics and assist in developing and implementing solutions to these issues
• Ensure that company policies and procedures are being followed
• Review and monitor production schedules to determine requirements for completion of job assignment
• Ability to engage and lead a cross-functional team towards a desired outcome
• Strong change management skills to include the practical implementation of Lean Manufacturing principles and concepts
• Strong leadership, communication, problem solving and analytical skills
• Problem analysis and problem resolution at both a strategic and functional level

Qualifications / Prior Experience:
• Bachelor’s degree preferred or a combination or skills and experience
• Minimum of 5 years working in textile manufacturing. Non-wovens experience preferred.
• 1-3 years of supervisory/leadership experience
• Strong leadership, organizational and communication skills required
• Strong computer skills, including experience with Microsoft Office, ERP (AS400 a plus) and HRIS (UKG a plus)
• Knowledge of raw material handling, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of products
• Ability to work a variety of work schedules, including holiday and weekend coverage
