Material Utilization & Costing Manager

This Private Equity held company, with an open and friendly/family like environment is seeking a Material Utilization & Costing Manager for their facility NE of Atlanta. The Material Utilization & Costing Manager is an important role within the company’s strategic Supply Chain management plan. Key objectives are related to the evaluation of fabric and trims utilization and production processes. Create consumption and sustainability roadmaps to support the Company’s strategic initiatives and recommend construction options to promote Design for Manufacturability. Completes costing process for new products and verifies costing on current styles.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Implements Strategy and goals on sustainable material utilization for cost modeling with company teams
• Work with cross functional teams to establish fair and justified material utilization in products
• Collaborates with Product Development team to recommend cost effective options for lay-up, pattern and/or fabric width changes
• Coordinates with Marker makers and production teams on the product buildup plan to ensure delivery times are meet
• Optimize marker productivity by knowledge of system nuances and software capabilities
• Develop and maintain accurate fabric utilization standards and marker efficiency for each fabric by preparing and marking styles
• Define standards for all materials to facilitate the costing process. Pursue process and utilization improvements
• Coaches staff, supports development to drive improvements in performance and utilization of materials
• Maintains records for ongoing projects and provides reports as requested
• Constantly verify item variances to confirm usage accuracy
• Request BOM updates as necessary when changes in suppliers, usages, or materials are required
• Verify accuracy of standards used in BOMS and communicate when updates are necessary
• Analyze and make technical recommendations related to materials included in BOMs
• Manage sample requests and coordinate with Design for testing of materials when needed
• Make sure to communicate the changes effectively and clearly
• Supports with cost analysis for new and existing products by identifying and quantifying cost factors such as production time, materials, and labor expenses
• Travels to Contractor’s facilities to gather information on labor required and other factors
• Consults with industry experts to discuss estimates and resolve issues
• Evaluate product profitability
• Reads technical documents to prepare estimates
• Makes recommendations to make a product more cost effective or profitable
• Supports other Clerical tasks in the department

• Problem solving skills

• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or another related field
• Minimum 5 years in Apparel Design, Textile Manufacturing, Material development or Product Manufacturing is required
• Experience costing products using GSD or Quick TruCost
• Experience in Marker making and material utilization calculation
• SAP and Compliance Quest experience preferred
• Direct experience in process documentation/improvement
• Proven ability to work with cross-functional teams
