Process Engineer

We are working with the leading supplier (Extrusion and Spinning) of Nylon 66 and Polyester for use as Sewing Threads, Broadloom Weaving, Narrow Fabrics and Tapes, Embroidery, Cording, etc. for Footwear, Apparel, Medical, Military, Aerospace, Luggage, Fishing Nets/Lines, Rubber Mechanical Goods, and Automotive Products. US production made of 100% US made raw materials for domestic and international customers. The company is looking for a Process Engineer for their facility in northern North Carolina.

The Process Engineer is responsible for process control and quality control. The Process Engineer ensures that products are capable of meeting or exceeding customer quality expectations. The Process Engineer will work with the Quality Process Manager and Technical Engineer to complete process and product development and process control activities. The Process Engineer motivates employees and provides a working environment based on teamwork.

Major Responsibilities and Functions:

  • Coordinates and responds to problems relating to quality issues both internal and external and is on call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week
  • Communicates with technical service concerning all issues with products run in production
  • Monitors all internal testing and systems to ensure product quality and suitability for customer requirements prior to shipment. Maintains products on target through the application of sound SPC techniques
  • Develops and uses process control skills
  • Gathers information needed to support claim negotiation
  • Responds to critical situations within the plant or at a customer
  • Notifies plant staff of quality issues, failure to meet original expectations, and quality of incoming raw materials
  • Troubleshoots process and product issues
  • Aid the ISO Coordinator in managing the Quality System, as needed
  • Ability to analyze data and make independent and timely decisions from the information provided and to seek opportunities for the reduction of variability
  • Responsible for the preparation, control & issuing of process OPI’s for Spinning, Drawing, and Rewinding
  • Responsible for the preparation, control & issuing of Certificates of Analysis and Packing Standards

Education:

  • A four-year college degree is preferred (Chemistry or Chemical Engineer preferred) and/or equivalent experience in any of the following areas: Textile Production, Development, Dyes, and Chemicals, POY production, man-made fiber production, N66 or N6, and managerial areas

Experience:

  • Must have experience in textile production and knowledge of QA/QC procedures. Must be able to interact comfortably with people at all levels such as other managers, upper management, customers, vendors, fiber producers and/or fiber manufacturers and other departments as well.  Ability to determine proper production needs depending upon economic and business factors.  Experience and Education are dependent upon each other

Specialized/Training:

  • Must have above average technical, problem solving and analytical thinking skills. Shall display the ability to learn new areas, above average written, verbal, and computer skills. Candidate should demonstrate customer relations and conflict resolution skills at an above average level. The candidate must display exemplary negotiation skills that allow him to settle claims with suppliers and customers. Must be self-motivated and attain the ability to manage people at various levels. Time Management skills and commitment to self-improvement on an average level
