Human Resource Operations Manager

$600M growing Home Textile Company that is US owned with US Manufacturing is looking for a Human Resource Operations Manager. Position based in North Carolina (north of Raleigh Durham) and reports to the Director of HR Operations. Company offers a competitive base salary, full benefits with 401K, and relocation assistance.

The Human Resource Operations Manager thrives in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment as s/he manages all aspects of human resources in a manufacturing location to include recruiting, policy and labor contract interpretation and application (as applicable), social compliance auditing requirements, benefits administration, terminations, exit interviews, merit reviews, workers compensation, and safety compliance.

The Human Resource Operations Manager also makes recommendations, plans, directs, coordinates, and implements human resource management processes and programs to include – retention, training, employee relations and engagement, consequence management process, investigations, and performance management for leadership and staff as required in manufacturing. S/he is responsible for ensuring compliance with all federal, state and local laws and regulations as they relate to the Human Resources function. Provides strong leadership and guidance with direct reports.

S/he assists in driving Associate satisfaction and keeps engagement top of mind. An advocate and architect behind the recommendation, collaboration in the development, and support of best-in-class HR business practices, policy and procedures while promoting an environment that aligns with the company culture and values (be: Passionate, Trustworthy, Empowered, Collaborative, and Accountable). The person in this position possesses a passion for leading and developing direct team members, effectively communicating with all levels from Senior Executive Leadership to entry-level associates and collaborating with the corporate HR Team and Director of HR Operations in supporting the SR VP of Human Resources in cultural transformation and building a winning organization

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Oversee recruiting, interviewing, and selecting associates to fill vacant positions. Works closely with local team leaders in the development of staffing plans, managing the hiring process and outsourcing staffing while ensuring compliance with all applicable laws and Company policies while fostering attracting, motivating and retaining a high-performing diverse workforce.
  • Timely updating of organizational and staffing charts in preparation of communicating staffing updates and recruitment needs.
  • Oversee company policies to ensure compliance with local, state and federal laws as well as manage labor contract compliance where applicable.
  • Plan and conduct new associate company and safety orientation to foster effective transition to the company as well as to ensure that new associates are properly trained for their position and plant safety practices.
  • Oversee safety policies and training to ensure compliance as well as consistent and effective application.
  • Administer workers compensation to ensure timely accident investigations and proper filing with the Insurance Carrier as well as facilitate the associate’s return to work.
  • Manage associate relations including associate complaints in a timely and effective manner. This may include conducting investigations and recommending resolutions.
  • Conduct local legal and managerial training to foster the development of associates.
  • Coach and provide input to managers and supervisors to provide quality, timely and consistent performance management reviews as well as support ongoing performance recognition as well as disciplinary action as needed.
  • Be a strong steward of a positive and productive organization culture making recommendations and applying the applications, programs, and processes to change and transform the culture,
  • Oversee and implement associate relations initiatives such as associate luncheons, holiday recognition events, associate professional development activities etc.
  • Oversee associate retention to include recommending and implementing retention programs as well as conducting effective exit interviews and analysis.
  • Prior experience in overseeing and success in Social Compliance audits
  • Maintain associate records in accordance with Company policies including but not limited to maintaining attendance and PTO records.
  • Identifies inefficiencies in processes and makes improvements as needed.
  • Other duties as required

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Direct reports may include HR or Payroll admin, clerks, generalist, recruiter, etc. as appropriate in location.

Requirements, Skills & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred or a combination of education and a strong work history in Human Resource Management
  • 5+ years of past HR experience preferably in a manufacturing location
  • 2 years Management experience
  • HRCI PHR or SHRM-CP Certification preferred
  • Proven experience in recruitment and staffing in a challenging employee market
  • Systems experience to include applications such as or similar to SuccessFactors, ADP Workforce, SharePoint, etc.
  • A solid employment history that demonstrates the ability to recommend and sustain programs to successfully drive Associate satisfaction and engagement in a fast-paced environment
  • Based on location experience in effectively working in a union environment may be preferred
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and possess a sense of urgency
  • Strong training and developmental experience
  • Strong knowledge of local, state and federal employment laws
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills
  • Based on location, bilingual in Spanish or French may be required

Travel:

  • Rare/Up to 5% (Seldom travel to other locations, corporate office, etc. may be requested)
