Director of Design

This exciting new Children’s brand has grown from a $20K investment into a $100MM+ company in a very short time. They now have a Private Equity company that has invested in them to help with their growth. This business was started by a Mom, and already successful business person, that saw a need in the industry. This role has become too big for her to be able to focus on and is looking for someone to lead the charge. Full benefits and 401K.

Our Client is seeking a Director of Design to join our fast-growing team. Working closely with the CEO, you will drive the overall trend and design strategy of our product lines. As the Director of Design, you will create products that are innovative, on-trend, commercially viable, and aligned with our brand identity. The ideal candidate combines excellence in creativity, leadership, and technical expertise. This role is based in Los Angeles and is a hybrid remote/in office position.

What You Will Do:
• Create and execute long-term strategic product design for all categories, including Sleep, Play, and Home
• Plan, manage and oversee execution of the design and development process for weekly releases of new product and “everyday” products
• Manage the print design process, strategy, and team; oversee and drive seasonal print direction through the creation of concept, mood, and/or presentation boards
• Provide clear creative direction to the design team in order to ensure deliverables and timelines are met for each season’s design calendar
• Build strong and synergistic relationships with cross-functional teams: Merchandising, Demand Planning, Marketing, and Operations
• Utilize data and forecasts from the Planning and Finance teams to intentionally design new products that fit into our company’s impact, financial, and brand goals
• Work closely with Merchandising to propose new product categories and further develop core offerings
• Collaborate with Planning and Production to manage lead-time, minimum order requirements, and costing constraints
• Develop and maintain conceptual, seasonal and year-round design boards for each category
• Apply market research, trend and consumer insights to drive strategy

Your Experience:
• 10 years of apparel design experience; experience in the baby/children’s space strongly preferred
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite, Google Docs and Microsoft Office
• Extensive design and development knowledge and hands on experience
• Excellent communication and presentation skills
• Effective project manager
• Proven track record in identifying trends and developing assortments that deliver results
• A people person and team player, you contribute positively to team dynamic, cultivate passion and productivity with a genuine interest in connecting and leading others
