Distribution Manager

This company is a division of one of the most financially stable companies in the US. They offer longevity and great benefits. They offer H/C and 401K. They are providing Uniforms for the public sector such as Police officers and have been around for 50+ years. They are a very well-run company that cares about its people and they have a great team in place. In this location they have a Cut & Sew Operation and their Warehousing/Logistics. About 70K sq ft is for cut and sew and about 70K is for Distribution.

We are looking for an effective Distribution Center Manager to direct receiving, warehousing, and distribution operations.

Responsibilities:

  • Strategically manage warehouse operations in compliance with company’s policies and vision
  • Interview, select, and train warehouse and supervisory personnel
  • Resolve problems concerning transportation, logistics systems, imports or exports, or customer issues
  • Determine appropriate equipment and staffing levels to load, unload, move, or store materials
  • Analyze inventories to determine how to increase inventory turns, reduce waste, or optimize customer service
  • Oversee receiving, warehousing, distribution, and maintenance operations
  • Manage stock control and reconcile with data storage system
  • Liaise with clients, suppliers, and transport companies
  • Receive and oversee tracing of all incoming freight deliveries: UPS, FedEx, etc.
  • Directing flow of packages from preparation to shipment
  • Managing all important documents such as advanced shipping notice, pick slips, bills of lading, etc.
  • Inspect labels, barcodes, and other features of completed orders
  • Collaborate with warehouse, purchasing and other managers to optimize processes
  • Resolve issues regarding shipped orders
  • Use software to track, check, prioritize and route orders

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • 5-7 years prior warehouse experience required; 2-5 years management experience required
  • HS diploma or GED required
  • Experience with WMS
  • Ability to learn new software
  • Basic math skills

Job Requirements:

  • Proven experience as a Shipping Manager
  • Solid knowledge of logistics procedures
  • Demonstrated ability to build relationships is important
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy

Essential Functions/Physical Demands:

  • Attention to detail
  • Capable of lifting heavy boxes up to 50 lbs.
  • Knowledge of space utilization and inventory techniques; proper methods of storing equipment, materials, and tools
  • BS/BA in supply chain, logistics or relative field is a definite plus
