We are looking for an Application Engineer for the footwear business who will take responsibility for the quality, training, technical consulting, and introduction/implementation of new technologies & material at the sites of our customers (Brands/Manufacturers), vendors and factories.
This position offers multiple work arrangements: on-site in Elkton, Maryland, hybrid, or fully remote work allowed in most locations within the U.S., depending upon the responsibilities of the role and business needs.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities (general description the nature and level of work expected to be performed. This is not an exhaustive list of all duties and responsibilities associated with the position):
• Provide quality guidelines and ensure that these are adhered to direct quality management at our subcontractors’ and manufacturers’ production sites, the setting up/securing of quality targets and supervision of the reporting, communication, and observation of those targets
• Be responsible for driving the training of personnel engaged in customer services and production (including organizing the training of the trainers)
• Provide style development
• Consult with our customers, subcontractors, and factories on issues of cost management, sourcing, and production operations
• Take charge of the technical part of the strategic customer relationship in liaison with account managers
• Cooperate with our R&D teams in order to check manufacturing feasibility and the readiness of new technologies/ materials for mass production and also to facilitate the application of validation procedures
Education and Experience Requirements:
• Minimum of 3 years work experience in the footwear, sports and/or leather industry
• Proven understanding of footwear construction and manufacturing
• Strong customer service mindset
• Demonstrated problem solving skills
• Excellent communication and consultative skills
• Strong time management and prioritization skills
• Proven ability to develop a deep understanding of what “value” means to customers and knowing how to deliver it
