Process Engineer
Our client is a leading producer of PTA, PET & EPS worldwide, as well as a leading rPET manufacturer in the Americas. They operate one of the largest polypropylene facilities in North America. They have 35 plants across 9 countries with over 7,000 employees.
The ideal candidate for the Process Engineer role will be results driven, motivated by technical challenges and has excellent communication, organization and interpersonal skills as well as demonstrated strong problem solving and analytical skills. This career opportunity will be based out of our Columbia, SC facility.
The main responsibilities of this position will be to provide day to day plant support, identify and implement projects for process improvement, conduct capacity and debottlenecking studies and provide technical support to the Columbia resins manufacturing operation. The Process Engineer will work closely with Technical, Business and Engineering personnel to accomplish the aforementioned items.
The selected candidate will work on the following tasks:
• Provide support to day to day plant operations
• Provide technical support to various manufacturing and operations group
• Provide project management and technical support for capital projects
• Serve on or lead teams responsible for long-term process improvement planning and cost savings and/or reliability projects
• Interact with support groups to develop and implement solutions to complex product, process, and equipment problems
• Participate and lead in design, installation, startup and operation of a variety of chemical process equipment
• Responsible for initiation of product and process related ideas that generate improvement projects throughout the polyester stream
• Evaluate new product, process and/or requirement applications and recommend and implement improvements to existing product, equipment, or processes
• Assist in check out and start-up on new processes and equipment
Requirements:
• Bachelor or Masters degree in Chemical Engineering
• 2 to 10 years’ experience required
• At least 2 years’ experience in a chemical manufacturing facility is preferred
• Ability to read, understand, and update P&ID’s
• Working knowledge of process control systems in a DCS environment.
• Strong technical and analytical skills with the ability to solve complex problems and to innovate.
• Ability to handle multiple assignments simultaneously
• Ability to successfully work independently and/or as a member of a cross-functional team
