Production Supervisor & Production Manager
We are working with a well- established (85+ years) growing, family-owned and operated, ISO 9001, and leading USA manufacturer of protective apparel for the industrial worker in the toughest industries. The company has more than a dozen brands for products including protection for heat and thermal, flash fire, arc flash hazard, flame-resistant, hi visibility flame resistant rainwear and apparel, leather and rubber voltage gloves, industrial workwear, military (FR, cold weather, base layers, combat uniforms, flight suits, etc.), electrical safety PPE, carbon products (thermal, welding, and molten metal protection), mechanical and cut protection apparel/products, and more! Company has 5 production facilities in the US.
Due to growth and a new facility, the company has a need for a Production Supervisor and a Production Manager in their Chicago facility. This position will report to the Production Manager or Plant Manager. This position comes with a competitive base salary, excellent benefits, and relocation package for qualified candidates.
The Production Supervisor and Production Manager oversees and coordinates the work of a specific area of the production workflow, managing a team of anywhere from 10 to 50 employees.
Responsibilities:
- Supervise 10-15 employees in assigned area
- Work with the Production Manager and/or Plant Manager and human resources to estimate and manage labor requirements in accordance with annual budget and seasonal demands
- Utilize team to meet production goals and schedules
- Maximize efficiencies and reduce costs through hands-on initiatives, including quality, lean manufacturing and workflow improvements
- Uphold quality and design integrity, according to standards
- Collaborate with team to provide input on existing, new, and proposed products
- Prepare, update, and implement process improvements and changes to meet production specifications
- Interact with Quality and Customer Service to resolve root cause of customer and/or product issues
- Promote and maintain positive employee relations and activities
- Maintain a safe working environment
Experience/Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- 2+ years of supervisory or manufacturing experience
- Sewing, cutting, or upholstery knowledge is preferred, but by no means required
- Working knowledge of manufacturing processes, inventory control, quality control, and lean manufacturing
- Demonstrated leadership competencies
- Well-developed problem-solving skills
- Strong organizational skills and follow-though
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, verbal and written
- Experienced in Microsoft Excel
