Senior Accountant

For almost a century, this multi-national manufacturer has produced a variety of products for the home, healthcare, transportation, agriculture, and defense sectors. Today, they have grown into one of the world’s most innovative fibers, textiles, coatings, and laminated products producers.

The company is looking for a Senior Accountant in their South East US headquarters located in Alabama.

The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating financial reporting for operations and updating daily KPI’s. The candidate will work closely with the Controller. If you are highly detail-oriented, capable of analyzing data and have the desire to contribute to the team from day one, you might be perfect for this position.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Assist operations personnel determine the impact of decisions on financial performance and understanding financial results
  • Maintain/develop standard costs and BOM’s
  • Perform monthly close, verify accuracy of accounts including reconciliations; create and post journal entries
  • Daily/weekly reporting to management of KPIs
  • Compare budget to actual results including analyses of manufacturing variances
  • Develop and maintain processes with operations management concerning control and safeguarding of inventory and other company assets
  • Coordinate inventory counts, cycle and full physical counts
  • Manage fixed asset accounting and monitor capital expenditures
  • Assist in the preparation of the annual budget
  • Monitor spending against P&L and Balance Sheet budgets
  • Assist in determining price of products
  • Various projects and assignments as requested

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science degree, with Accounting or Business concentration
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP
  • Manufacturing experience strongly preferred
  • JD Edwards experience preferred
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills
  • Must be able to reconcile accounts, recognize potential errors in financial data, understand product cost structures, analyze data and create reports for management for use in the operation of the company, communicate financial data to management
