Pattern & Sample Maker

This is a very successful Apparel company that works with some of the top retailers and top brands in the country. They can offer private label packages for the retailers and they have licensing agreements with the brands to represent them to retail. They have multiple divisions and offer room for growth. Responsible for creating new patterns and sewing prototype garment. Will be responsible for grading patterns using pattern equipment and software. Perform sample evaluations to include construction, quality and safety reviews. Will be required to enter patterns and specs to the technical packet software. Will be required to perform all duties associated with the pattern department.

Essential Functions of the Job:
• Create Pattern and garment specification
• Grade patterns according to ASTM measurements
• Cut and sew prototype garments for design approval and factory samples
• Required to maintain measurement specification sheets
• Communicate with factories concerning patterns, measurement specifications and construction samples as needed
• Input patterns and specification into the PLM/technical packets
• Perform sample evaluations - construction, quality and safety. PP and Prod
• Generate mini markers & patterns on pattern computer system as needed
• Create and maintain manufacturing notifications for specifications and distribute

Education/Experience:
• Pattern/Sample making - Min. 5 years’ experience
• Knowledge of sewing machines and operation
• Working knowledge of children’s and kid size apparel
• Fit specialist
• Measurement specification specialist
• 3D pattern experience

Skills and Abilities which may be representative but not all inclusive of those commonly associated with this position:
• Must know functions of pattern and sewing department at a corporate level
• Must be able to supervise associates and work with others at all levels of the organization
• Must be able to handle detailed confidential information
• Must be able to handle multiple tasks at different levels of completion
• Must have good oral and written communication skills
• Excel and Word
• Good analytical skills and memory retention; must be able to analyze pattern layout to fit a given area

Machines, Tools, Equipment and Work Aids which may be representative but not all inclusive of those commonly associated with this position:
• Computer knowledge - proficient in current office applications
• Various sewing machines
• Gerber Accumark pattern equipment and plotter
• Optitex 3D software
