Creative Director

This amazing Home Décor company sets the bar in the space of: Home, Garden, Floral and Holiday. They sell directly to Wholesalers that have high end retail specialty stores across the country. They put out two catalogs every year and have amazing showrooms in Atlanta, Dallas and Las Vegas.

The Creative Director sets the vision & strategy for the company’s product line, showrooms and photography. This is a highly visible role within the organization & the wholesale Home Décor industry. This position is responsible for the introduction of 2500+ products per year across the following categories: Home/Garden/Floral/Holiday. The Director guides all projects and is responsible to coordinate and direct the strategy for the Visual Merchandising, Product, and Photography Teams.

Essential functions:
• Create inspiration books & product themes that will drive product development selections, showrooms and photography
• Travel internationally 3-4 times per year for product development
• Act as the Art Director for photography sessions, working with the VP Marketing for catalog and web requirements
• Create the space plan & help to execute the showroom resets in the Atlanta showroom twice a year directing the visual team. The visual team is responsible to execute the plan in Dallas & Las Vegas Showrooms
• Participate in the annual Sales Meeting in Atlanta to communicate our creative vision & facilitate product training
• Meet with Key Customers and Accounts as needed to develop custom programs
• Oversee profitability, deliverables, timelines and budgets
• Manage the day to day operations of the Product Development Team
• Meet with customers, sale reps or upper management to explain campaign strategies and solutions
• Review work, troubleshoot and provide feedback to creative teams

Successful industry experience is a key prerequisite for the position, at least 10 years of experience is generally required. Top candidates have a strong understanding of industry trends and creative tools, such as Adobe Creative Suite. Experience performing or managing a range of creative positions is required. Expert knowledge of the business side of design is a major plus. The successful candidate should have a strong understanding of retail environments and a variety of distribution channels, in-depth knowledge of consumer goods sales, distribution, and Asian sourcing. Strategic Product Development:
• Development of short and long term plans to build equity and consumer desirability for our products and brand
• Help build the proper processes and work flow to ensure the product development process is operating efficiently and effectively
• Investigate new processes and tools necessary to create better work flow
• Evaluate current competition and identify potential new opportunities “white space” where we should consider developing new categories or items of business
• Possibly seek out and negotiate agreements with new licenses that allow for expansion of distribution or product categories
• Perform projects as necessary

Technical Responsibilities:
• Responsible for, and accountable to, the delivery of all product introductions: on-time, on-margin
• Ensure a consistent stream of new products in support of total business goals and objectives
• Leading the Product Development Team to insure timelines, viable product, and margins
• Confer and coordinate product specifications to provide technical advice and resolve problems
• Gain approval for all inventory investments
• Build and closely monitor expense/travel budget

Communication Responsibilities:
• To work and communicate well inter-departmentally and foster strong relationships across all areas of the business
• Work well inter-departmentally and cross-functionally to drive customer satisfaction and bottom-line profitability
• Establish and maintain cooperative, constructive interpersonal relationships with the Company staff at all levels
• Establish and maintain constructive communications and relationships with suppliers, customers, and other third parties

Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree optional
• Strong sense of style and design that is consistent with company’s taste level
• Ability to design price driven products for the retail market
• 10+ years of experience in Product Management, Product Development, and/or Creative Director
• Must have experience importing finished consumer goods from Asia/India
• Production and/or manufacturing background is a plus
• Working knowledge of Adobe In Design
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
• Strong critical thinking and logical reasoning skills
• Excellent organizational, time management and project management skills
• Strong skills in problem identification and solutions-based problem-solving
• Excellent skills managing multiple competing priorities on a daily basis
• Excellent verbal and written communications skills
• Strong team player

Travel Requirements:
• Attend Trade Shows
• 3-4 trips to Asia per year as needed
